Notes on the Text

1. a map 和 an orange

 英语中不定冠词 a 和 an 用在名词的前面，泛指 “一个”。大多数情况下，人们使用不定冠词 a。

例如：

a key（一把钥匙）、a jacket（一件夹克衫）等。

但是，当所修饰的名词发音为元音开头时，就要使用不定冠词 an。

例如：

an apple（一个苹果）、an egg（一个鸡蛋）、an hour（一个小时）等。

2. What’s this in English? 这个用英语怎么说？

 在词句中，in English 中的 in 表示 “使用；利用（某种语言）”。例如：What’s that in Chinese? 那个用汉语怎么说？
此外，英语中还可以用 What’s the English for …? 表达同样的含义。

例如：

A：What’s the English for 枕头？B：It’s a pillow.
A："枕头"用英语怎么说？B：是 pillow。
